Voice Alarm applications with the aim of an effective warning and evacuation of people in emergency situations in buildings, is one of the fastest growing segments in the European installation market while providing the most significant change in the market within the last decade. We would like to take this opportunity to explain our assessment in respect of further market developments, and the ic audio product range, from this area.

With the introduction of the product standards DIN EN 54-16 (voice alarm control and indicating equipment), DIN EN 54-24 (components of voice alarm systems loudspeakers), and DIN EN 54-4 (fire detection and fire alarm systems power supply equipment) in 2008, the legal framework for the redesign of Voice Alarm applications have been defined.

The new regulations are merging fire alarm and public address technology more and more. Against the background of generally increased security requirements, as well as economic factors, this is not really surprising. Within the next years the cross-functional integration of devices will certainly gain more importance in the installation market.
